#SuicideBy (fill in the blank)

Suicide is no joke and it’s never been my intention to cause additional pain to anyone who may have lost someone to suicide, or who may have thoughts of suicide. If you need help, there are people and organizations trained to do so. Here is the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Having said that….  The concept of suicide fascinates me. Is there anything more dramatic than death, and particularly suicide?

#SuicideBy Plastic Bag (11/27/2019) When I was a boy, maybe 10 years old, I remember hearing that one of my classmates, Kevin Wright, had accidentally died. He and I weren’t exactly friends, but we were the same age, lived in the same neighborhood, and went to the same church and school. He was different in many ways. He was adopted. His skin was darker than ours. He had thick glasses and he played the violin. He was an easy target for bullies, but thankfully, I don’t recall ever bullying him. In fact, his adoptive mother somehow had the impression we were friends and gave me a plastic car model that Kevin hadn’t started.  The story that his parents told everyone was that Kevin had, perhaps as an experiment, put a bag over his head, and for some reason was unable to get it back off, and he ended up suffocating. Maybe it was an accident, but more likely than not, he just said, “To heck with it”! Kevin was the first person, that I knew personally, that was dead. So many new feelings and thoughts for a young boy. Not that I was heavily invested in our friendship, but I realized, for the first time, that I would never see this person again. Kevin’s death, helped me appreciate my life and the lives of those I love.
